Default Will removing my catalytic converter on my '89 toyota pickup effect performance?
I realize it's illegal so don't lecture me...































Im asking if removing my cat will effect my gas mileage or the performance of my truck.

I own a Chevy but I tried that one time. I ran into an issue where the O2 Sensor was reading the excessive unburnt fuel in the exhaust (which is what the cat takes care of). That told the computer to run my fuel mixture funny. I ended up going to a High Flow Cat to reduce computer errors, and to still maintain a 'little bit' of back pressure. THAT made a huge difference.

You won't notice any performance or fuel economy gains. But you will notice a lawn-mower like smelling exhaust.































Removing the muffler will have a bigger effect.
