Default Electric Problem With my toyota Celica?

Hi, I have a 15 year old 2.0 Twin-cam engine Toyota Celica Which has not given me any trouble until now. The problem is: I took my celica for a 25mile Journey, Car Started Perfect and drove also Perfect to destination, then on the way home i stopped off to get petrol, and when i came back out to start my car i Had no Electrics.. red Lights on Dash but that was it. The Temp/Petrol/Battery gauge Would Flick back and fourth When turning Key or trying any Electrically operated devices in car. So i Ran Started to Get home But even The Short Journey Was Dodge As She wanted to Cut out when slowing up at traffic lights etc so i need to keep her lit by putting it out of gear and slightly reving car....All the way home the Battery power indicator was showing normal volts but the hand was again flicking back and fourth Got home anyway and parked it on a hill so i could run start again if she would not start after turning off ignition. so i did!!!!!!! turned off car try-ed to start and no hope??? try-ed run Starting again with the use of hill and no joy!!!!! so a friend of mine got his car and Jump stared with jump cables, started first turn of key??? What could this problem be??? its driving me crazy!!!! I would appreciate any information possible with this, hope you can understand my description?? Thanks a million......

Check your battery is still good.

Check and clean you battery terminals.

Check your alternator belt.

Spray all your connections with WD40 (or whatever you have to clean crud out of electrical connections).

Check your relays.

Trace your Earth connections and remove, clean and put them back...

Have you ever spliced something to the coil spring?

There are a cluster of wires in the engine compartment. I cant remember where exactly they are, i believe on the passenger's side on the fire wall. Make sure all of them are in there snug. This probably isn't the problem unless the horn is coming and going, too.
