The owner's manual should say what type of lube it takes. Lots of cars of that era took 90 weight gear lube (the real smelly stuff) but Japanese cars can be different.
When you have the stuff, crawl under the rear bumper and look at the back of the differential. Somewhere above the mid line there should be a plug, probably with a square hole to take a socket driver extension. That plug comes out (you really should spray the threads with penetrant now to make it easier - they are usually very tight). Fill the differential with the lube until it starts to run back out the fill hole. Put the plug back in firmly and clean up.
