Prius keys has been lost!! how to program new key?

I have 2004 Prius, the keys have been lost, however I managed to got a new key ,, and now I have to use the key to open the door every time i want to open it, which is so stupid because you always have to use both hands to release the metal key from the fob,

so my question is:

is there anyway I can program the lock/unlock button on my key fob myself w/o the dealer?

No there isn't a way to do it yourself. On the Classic NHW11 Prius you could do a complicated "rain dance" procedure using one of the master keys to program in other keys but the NHW20 that you have requires the THHT (Toyota hand held tester) to program the 3 functions of a new fob. The RKE buttons, the engine immobilizer, and the SE/SS (Smart key). If your car isn't equipped with Smart Key they will only have to program the first 2. If your car does have all 3 be sure to check the function of them all before leaving the dealer as they have been known to forget to do all 3 and miss one.

To check the immobilizer function if you do have Smart Key flip the switch under the dash to disable SE/SS and make sure the car boots up when you insert the fob in the slot in the dash.

What's programmed is not the fob, but the security ECU. To do this you either have to have an existing fob or else a Toyota dealer can do it with the THHT. At the same time he can remove the existing programming so that the lost/stolen fobs aren't usable anymore. I suggest getting an additional fob because it's much cheaper to do if you have a working one to start with.

Be sure to check that the SS/SE button is in the on position.

Also make sure that the fob you have has a silver Toyota Logo on the back because the ones with the black logo won't work with SS/SE.
