i can start the car, but i cann't shift the gear.

check your brake lights while someone else steps on the pedal. do they work? poss blown fuse. That system is wired to the shift interlock as a safety to prevent it from inadvertantly going into gear without the brakes on. If the fuse is blown- the interlock won't function. Other possibility is a bad brake switch itself. Check power going in to the switch; anything coming out when the pedal is depressed? Good Luck--T&T
