What can I do to a Tercel?
I have an Integra DA that's fixed up. I take it to shows and models take their pictures with it for magazines, website... I've been getting too many tickets in it lately so I bought a 1992 Tercel 5 Speed for $900 to use as a low profile daily driver (no tickets, cops don't even turn their heads). Lately I've noticed that more people rev on me at a stop light in the Tercel than they do in the Integra. I think it's because in their heads they know they can beat the Tercel... but they can't. I've killed 2 fixed up Integras in it, an F150, an older C300, a cavalier, and a bunch of other nothing cars. I can litterally floor it in any gear and the engine sounds and feels stable never reaching red line. It shifts very smoothly and quickly. I think I'm beating so many people in it because either they have an automatic, or they don't know how to shift when they're racing. I can hear the other people shifting and it always sounds like they are reving in neutral (trying to double clutch) when they don't really need to. It's really really light, almost weighs nothing, it's all stock except for a K&N air filter and a port I cut into the grill so that air gets rammed directly into the stock intake. It has no AC or power steering pumps (never came with it, adds horse power). What can I do on the cheap side, under the hood only that can make this thing an even better sleeper? I'm going to do the IAT sensor mod later, just haven't had the time. Other than that what can I do? I just want to put the people trying to race me to shame that they couldn't beat a Tercel. The Integras I beat were fairly fixed up with exhaust, probably intake, rims... I just laugh so hard to myself when I think about what must be going on in their heads about their cars, especially when they have their girls in them who they were trying to show off for.
