The Prius holds four large adults in comfort. Five adults of any size would be a tight squeeze. The Prius is a mid-size car and it actually has more back seat room than the Camry (at least more than the Camry I sat in at the dealer's a few weeks ago). So if your teens are just barely teens and not too large any mid-size sedan, including the Prius, will work. If they are older teens or big for their age it will be a tight fit and you might want to look at the hybrid Highlander.
I have both a 2001 and a 2004. They have been exceptionally trouble free and fun to drive. There are two drawbacks:
1. If you only have one Prius and multiple drivers, you won't get to drive it much.
2. Once you've driven a Prius for awhile it will be hard to go back to an old fashioned car.
