95' toyota 22RE 4cyl pickup: how to make it faster?

its a 1995 4cyl 22RE automatic single cab pickup. how can i beef up this ride? not interested in a lift or off roading in it. i just want to make it faster. any suggestions? where can i buy parts?

You can but you won't see any kinds of huge gains from modifying this engine. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the 22RE's. But they are expensive to really make them pump out some respectable numbers.

But if you are determined to do it, here's an awesome website.

They carry all things 22RE and then some.

But there's things you can buy at the local Parts store like better Cap and Rotor, better Spark Plugs, and Wires.

A tune up never hurts!

There wasn't a 22RE Truck in 1995 as far as I know. Maybe there was outside the U.S., but the Tacoma was introduced in late 1994 as a 1995 model with the 2RZ-FE. Both engines are 2.4 liter though. If you are in fact talking about the 22RE here's a link that will give you all that you need:

Please note: There was a turbocharged variant called the 22-RTE that was sold in the mid 80's. If you bulid up you 22RE with forged internals, you can add a turbo to it. Just remember that toyota sold a factory turbo version of this engine so you can swap it out.
