Yaris engine fire..............?
I was just on the phone with my mom and she said they were just leaving a restaurant on Friday and when my dad tried to start the car, the engine caught on fire. They bought it brand new about 3 months ago and it has 7,000 miles on it and my dad has already had 3 oil changes on it. They were able to douse the fire with some water from the restaurant but they called 911 when it first happened so the fire department looked over the vehicle and put on the report that the cause of the fire was a mechanical defect. My parents said that the dealership doesn't want to do anything and neither is Toyota headquarters. My dad threatened a lawsuit in the event of another fire and this, apparently, made corporate change their mind and said that someone would follow up by Monday. Anyway, has anyone else had a similar problem with their Yaris? If so, what was the outcome?
