Does Toyota have to give me my $500 deposit back?

We agreed to and signed paperwork stating the price for my trade in and final price of the new car. (13,900) They had to order my car special, so they said they'd need a $500 deposit and they'd give it back when we finished the deal.

When I went to give them my trade and pick up the new car, they inspected my trade in (for the first time) and said they couldn't offer me the price they said. They were going to take 500 more.

I said that's not fair we had a contract. He said it's not valid til you drive off the lot. So I said I want to see the interest rate you're giving me before we talk about the $500.

When I went to see the financing manager, they had forgot to add the 500 into the system and he said he'd refund the deposit to me monday morning. I was happy. The sales manager never even talked to me again, he just went home, so I never got to fight over the 500.

They haven't refunded the deposit yet. Am I just out of luck now?

Everything I signed said 13,900. No where was keeping $500 mentioned.

is the 500 buck deposit reflected on the paperwork? if so...and that is the only cash you coughed up...then forget it, you won't see the 500.

if the 500 ISN'T on any paperwork then you are entitled to a refund of your deposit.

i'd contact the finance manager you spoke with, tell them you will be in for your 500 bucks and steer clear of the salesmanager. hopefully that would work. if not and they corner you about the refund i'd point out that nowhere on the BINDING LEGAL paperwork you signed is the money reflected and that you will pursue legal action for it's return.
