Is there any way to disable the light that says you have an open door? (read details)?

its on a 91 toyota previa































because we got rear ended by some guy who denies he did any damage, and then when we got home, we found out that the rear hatch wouldn't open. i got it to open, but now it doesn't close properly. and the light that shows that you have an open door in the dashboard is gonna be on continously now. the door's probably not gonna open by itself because its pretty heavy and the door lifts are garbage.































we just need it temporarily until we get it fixed.

Unscrew the rear hatch light bulb or you will run down the battery.

the switch that tells the car that your hatch is open is most likely located in the latch assembly. Find the wires going to the latch and disconnect them at the connector plug. your dash light should go off

Duct Tape the little switch that gets pushed in when you shut the Door.































With that switch pressed down, the light will go off.

There has to be something at the door/hatch which activates the light. Typically, a switch that protrudes and is pushed in when the door closes. Tape that down. If the switch is electrical activated by the lock on the latch, you may have to figure out what entails.
