That's a little higher than I'D want to pay, for the mileage, but it's probably what many of the Toyota trucks go for in that year range.
At 117K miles, that's over 22 K miles each year it's been driving, which is a huge amt. Normal amts estimates are 12K to 15K.
Hopefully, the body and interior are in excellent condition for that price. And possibly the high miles are mostly highway miles, which are virtually nothing to a vehicle. I once bught a salesman's car that was 3-4 yrs old, and it had over 103K miles, but car was in virtual new condition because it was highway miles, and he also took great care of it.
So all those miles don't necessarily mean trouble, but it still is something you need to have checked out and be aware of.
Many garages offer a price of $50 to $120 to check out a vehicle for selling, they'll give it a light examination, check compression, brakes, etc, and give you an estimate of its worth. All that extra miles would show up on compression if something were wrong. But remember---Toyota engines are broken in only after 100K miles!!!!!
But the key thing to worry about with that mileage is the timing belt or chain. YOu usually change them out around 100K miles, so you need to find out if it has been, otherwise, you'll NEED to get it done before it breaks on its own. You want to change it out before it breaks so that the engine isn't tore up inside from damage. It's a normal part of car maintenance that most of us don't deal with because we don't keep cars long enough.
Overall, the high mileage turns me off. I'd think with that mileage, it'd be better to ask $12K. But it might be in immaculate condition on interior and body.
Is this at a car dealer or private party? Many times, private sellers want to sell their car for what they FEEL it is worth, rather than what its real value is.
If you have a bank, go to there and ask them quote you price from Blue Book, or even try online, and that is the "bible" of car values used by the whole financial industry. They'll tell you if the truck is worth that much. But it's the high mileage that is hurting the value.
