Ok, I have the ignitor for a 1988 Toyota Pick up... The male and female connectors have different patterns. Is there an additional connector, etc? Also, what does the ignitor coil plug into? The ditributor?

Yes the distributor. Not sure about the other connectors.

The ignitor plugs into the coil it tells the coil when to fire,if the connector ends do not match then you probably have the wrong ignitor.Toyota has changed different ignitor through out the years if you have the old one then you should take it with you to match it.I thought I had a problem with my ignitor so I replaced the coil and ignitor still did not work an old mechanic told me to run another ground wire off off the battery to the body and it worked
