The headlight auto-leveling sensor is located on the rear axle. It's subject to salt corrosion during the winter and can stick. The typical scenario is that the headlights point at the lowest possible position so the road isn't lit up very far ahead.
The NCF manual indicates the combination meter*:
"Outputs the vehicle speed signal to the headlight beam level control ECU.
When the headlight beam level control ECU detects malfunction in the automatic headlight beam level control system, the headlight beam level control ECU illuminates the master warning light on the combination meter.
Once the master warning light is illuminated, the meter ECU sends a signal to the multi display** to indicate the automatic headlight leveling system warning."
* Combination meter: The information area where the speedometer, fuel gauge, and idiot lights are located.
** Multi display (aka MFD): The central display unit where the vehicle settings can be made and where the fuel efficiency is shown.
