Default Can i put a rover 3.5ltr v8 engine into a mk 2 toyota mr2.?
Kit car project time, staying within the body shell of the mr2 isnt too much of an issue as the new shell is wider and much higher (extreme murci kit)

If I was going to put a V8 into anything it would not be a Rover V8 the thing will just boil up on you every five minutes then the heads will crack and it would just be a pain, get a ford V8!

Although that particular model may also be a pain. putting it into that type of body though I wouldn't know the measurements sorry!

Why ?















Don`t use a Rover V8, they need a lot of work just to get any sort of power out of them, and when you do, they become even more unreliable. Get hold of a Toyota V8 ( from a Land Cruiser ? ) 400+ HP easily

The short answer is yes, with effort you can get any car engine into any car. I have to agree with the above though, I have owned several V8 Rovers and, with care and attention to servicing they were reasonably reliable, (the engine is actually a Buick) but the 3.5 litre is 50 years old and shows it; even the twin plenum vitesse made less than 200bhp standard. For the kind of money you are talking to adapt the engine, the suspension and the brakes you could buy a very reasonable SCOOBY OR eVO AND ACTUALLY HAVE FUN DRIVING IT RATHER THAN MAKING IT.
