S gear in toyota camry?

Default S gear in toyota camry?
My car has a S + - gear and i have no idea what that is. i read the manual and i still dont understand. i also read online and to my understanding, its like a manual shift but my question is why would i want to manual shift if i can just auto?

You dont need to, its just there if you want to shift your car, when you press the shifter up it goes to a higher gear hence the "+" and when you pull it down it goes to a lover gear hence the "-".

top person is right,its just for fun,some people like shifting,like me except i am actually in to real manual transmissions.

I have the same thing in my Jeep, handy for down hill driving, on slap and you downshift for safer hills. Don't use it for brakes as the car already comes equipped with brakes, and they are cheaper than transmissions.
