Will my Prius drive if i leave the car, taking the key?

Default Will my Prius drive if i leave the car, taking the key?
Will the car keep running if I start the car but walk away with the key? If so, for how long?

if you take the key when your out of range it will shut off, or atleast it should

If you have the Smart Start/Smart Entry system then the Prius will keep running until it's powered down. Once stopped you won't be able to restart it until the fob is inside the car. If you get out of the Prius with the fob it will beep three times and the orange-yellow key light will show.































If you think about it, you'll see why allowing the Prius to continue to run is necessary. If loss of signal shut the car off, then it would stop the car if the fob battery was weak or the signal was blocked. This wouldn't be much fun if it happened on the freeway.































If you don't have SS/SE then the fob is mechanically locked into the slot until the power is off, so you can't take it out.

it can be unlocked and start up if you are within 100 feet of it
