Why want the hatch open in my 2000 Celica?

Default Why want the hatch open in my 2000 Celica?
I've just gotten this car on 8/24, and I was able to open the back once, but since then it won't open up. Could it be stuck or is the a broken part on the hatch that I need to get replaced?

Well I would 1st look and see if there is tension on the release handle on the inside and if its kinda easy to pull and u can pull it all the way and nothing then I would say ur cable is stretched. If that's not it then I would say the hood latch under the hood is rusted or locked up and after u get the hood open a good lubing or replacing would be best
