How to pass out of state 96 Camry in California?

I'm moving to California from RI and I am bringing my 1996 Camry with me.

To pass inspection in California what will need to be done to the car? Right now the check engine light is on indicating a weak catalytic converter.

Beside the converter anything else that may need to be replaced to pass inspection in CA? Also how much am I looking at if I buy the parts online myself?

You'll have to get the "CHECK ENGINE" light to stay off.

"If you are moving to California from another state, you may register a new federally certified vehicle in California if it was first registered by you in your home state, or for military personnel, in your last state of military service. When applying for vehicle registration in California, you must provide evidence of your vehicle's previous registration and that you were a resident of the other state when you acquired the vehicle."
