Default I have a 1997 toyota tercel, and my adult son pulled the emergecy?
brake so far up i can't release it to drive my car, Can this be a major mechanical problem?

press on the button hard and pull up as hard as you can until the button releases

If there is so much tension on the handle that you cannot depress the button to release the brake, you may need to adjust the parking brakes at the rear wheels or adjust the cable attached to the brake handle inside the console in order to get it to release. After doing this, you'll need to re-adjust the system so that the parking brake works appropriately.

your gonna need to pull up on it real hard to release it,or hit the button with a hammer (LOL) there is no other way to release it with out taking cables off or cutting them big $$ to replace master tech 28yrs.
