With most cars, maintenance required on comes on when there is a problem with the emission system, if it's blinking you have a mechanical problem. To reset the trouble code pull the ECM and PCM fuse and that will reset it. Sometimes if your lucky the error will clear and no more problems. If it comes back on, most auto parts stores will check it for free. From there it's up to you if you want to fix it or not. It not a big deal, unless your due for an emission test, than it will automatically fail until it's fixed.
