Idle sticking high -- 1985 Toyota Corolla, carbureted 5-speed manual, FWD?

Default Idle sticking high -- 1985 Toyota Corolla, carbureted 5-speed manual, FWD?
Okay. Weird symptoms. Turn headlights on -- idle goes up a little, as expected. Touch gas pedal -- idle skyrockets and stays up. Turn lights off -- idle drops back to normal.















4-door sedan.































Additional symptom: Daytime driving -- when i push in the clutch with my foot off the gas, the engine continues to rev for a few seconds before dropping to idle.

is this the 2 dr coupe with the "pop-up" head lights? must be. turning on the head lights hits a valve to use vacuum to open the head light doors. must be a leak or a hose loose somewhere. trace the head light hoses and valves.
