99 4Runner - Loud Fan Noise in Passenger Compartment?

Default 99 4Runner - Loud Fan Noise in Passenger Compartment?
As soon as I turn on my engine, I get a loud fan sound coming from the passenger seat area. It sounds like my fan or AC is on full blast, but it is off. It stays like that, regardless of what I am doing. I tried tracing the sound and it seems like it is either coming from the passenger dash area or under the passenger seat towards the back. There seems to be a vent with blowing air under the passenger seat near the center console. Does anyone know what this vent is for and what this noise is related to? Thanks.















Thanks for all the help. In reply to some of the answers out there, it is not a crisp or tingy noise - just sounds like fast blowing air from a fan vent or something like that.

If it is under the passenger side dash it is the heater core and it's probably going out. Look into soon because it contains antifreeze and if not taken care of it will leak all over the carpet. If you have rear A/C it could be the blower motor which is located under the rear quarter panel inner trim panel.

Your blower motor under the dash could also be going bad or just out of balance. Sometimes a piece breaks off and knocks it out of whack and causes a fan/vibration noise.
