It should not idle that high. It should idle around 800 rpm. Check your throttle cable and make sure its not sticking. If it is clean it off and spray a lubricant designed for linkages in the plate. If its over adjusted adjust the two nuts that are on the cable bracket until the cable is where it needs to be.
Also check for vacuum leaks. If you have a vacuum leak or broken hose the idle could go up. Also a bad sensor could make it idle up as well.
If its too much take the car to a good dealership. They will be able to fix it for you
