The cross-member is part of the frame, on a truck, usually going underneath the oil pan. It's not exactly an easy fix, usually requiring you to pull the engine out, chop out the old section with a power saw, then weld a new piece in place, assuming there's enough metal left on the frame to weld something there. Honestly, i'd look for a different truck. Take a look when you go in on monday, but keep in mind it's a pretty big project to fix it.
