I haven't heard of a class action suit, although I haven't looked either. But I can tell you that there has been a part number change on those bulbs, which usually indicates an upgrade or change of some kind. In addition, at least two of my customers have been able to get Toyota to reimburse them for the cost of the bulb repairs, even though their cars were out of the 3/36 warranty. All they had to do was call, and Toyota immediately stepped up to the plate, another indication of Toyota's awareness of the situation. Give the customer service number a call...you might be surprised!
