1979 toyota pickup (2wd) will not start!?

i replaced the carburetor on my truck with a rebuilt one and it started up fine. then after driving about 20 minutes, it just died. i still have power, and it will turn over, but just will not fire up! i also have fuel still being delivered to the carb so i know its getting gas. does anybody know whats wrong with my truck?

Possibly too rich or lean.

First we need to address the issue Of why it stopped.

Do this.

#1 remove 1 sparkplug wire. Put it into a screwdriver and hold about 1/4 of an inch from some metal.

Now have someone crank and look for spark.

If yes go to step 2 if not remove dist cap and check

Step 2 Pour a small amount of gas into the top of the crab and crank. Does it now start. If yes, check fuel pump by removing hose going to charb and cranking. Did gas come out of line. If yes, fuel pump is ok.

If not fuel pump is defective.

Check timing, Remove cap from dist, and crank. Does rotor rotate? If not check dist.

Check for vacum leak around the carb (check the hold down bolts/nuts)

Do you have spark at the #1 spark plug?

Some times rebuilt parts are not built right if everything else checks out then I would take the carb back and get another one

it might just be bad fuel lines, or even a fautlty fuel filter. Have you ever changed it???
