never came across it i work for a toyota main dealer in ireland if theres a recall it will be either all of europe or worldwide and we'v never had to replace them and we'd often have recalls on different models

No such recall on the Avensis.

Type in [toyota recall for the year, make and model} and alot of web sites will come up. Look at these web sites and it should tell you in there if there are any for your car or not.
