Just replace what's broken. A loose or burned and rusted out muffler can be pretty noisy. You might pay close to $300 to have it replaced at the Toyota service. See what independant muffler shops charge and have the car looked at before you start writing checks for unknown jobs.

If it's loud and shaking I suspect you have a broken motor mount, although it is possible the exhaust system is resting against the chassis somewhere. Motor mounts are checked by a visual inspection and trying to push and pull the engine around. Replacing a motor mount is generally $150-$250 parts and labor.
