Have you checked or did you knw that many Toyotas have a child safety lock on the inside of the door on the side? It is a small tiny lever that an adult moves to either the Lock or Unlock position. Our kids are grown but when they were little, it is highly recommended so that the door is not opened by a child esp if the vehicle were moving. Hopefully it is an easy fix otherwise in some states, your vehicle may not pass the safety inspection.
