Default The engine light in on, on my Toyota Corolla. Will I have to pay for the service?
It is a 2009. I filled the tank and the light went on the following morning. There is no clicking sound on the gas cap when I open it, and according to my mechanic it is in the gas cap. Will I have to pay to replace it, or should it be covered?

i assume u still have the warranty so take it to the dealer. OR, disconnect the negative battery cable, wait 5 minutes and reconnect. It should go away. I doubt the gas cap is damaged but it's possible.

just fix it it is a big headache if u don't fix it it might result in bigger problems

Warranties for most cars only cover the engine and transmission. Small things like a gas cap can be damaged or wear out through daily use so they don't cover it.

you should have a three yr. warranty that covers everything from bumper to bumper take it to your toyota dealer.it could even be a headlight,everything is covered.

I would ask the dealer if you have warranty and find out. If it isn't covered, I would go to Auto Zone, PEP BOYS, or Schuck's auto parts and buy another gas cap. If you do, get a locking one.

You did not mention how many miles you have on your odometer bec the light might indicate your 2009 Corolla requires an oil change (I think every 5000 miles), and there are instructions on how to reset after getting your vehicle serviced. Otherwise, if it something else is wrong, I would recommend stopping at your local Toyota dealer soon bec most likely the repair is covered under the 36 month, 36,000 mile warranty.
