Default 2010 Camry XLE Smart Key System Entry Issues?
About a month ago I purchased a 2010 Camry XLE with the smart key system. At first, it would unlock the car as I got close. Now, more often than not, it will turn the interior lights on and not do anything else. After lifting the handle several times or walking around the car it might unlock the doors. Obviously at that point it would be easier to just push the button on the remote - but that's not what I paid for. Anyone else experience this or have suggestions on how to fix?

Unfortunately you are learning what many people are about Toyota's poor quality. Not only does your key system not work, neither will your brakes stop your car if the electronic acceleration won't shut off, or the gas peddle gets stuck. Please be careful. A family of four were killed as you probably know from the peddle, or acceleration defect. Your power steering is now also electronic..God forbid if it fails too. And your Camry's transmission is now cheap electronics as well, that's why when you go up and down hills, it shifts in a haphazard manner.Your brakes are also electronic...also cheap system. Your Camry will be recalled soon in the upcoming year for the acceleration defect. I'll bet the Toyota salesman didn't tell you that did he. They are so dishonest. Please be careful till then. And good luck. Believe me, your toyota smart key problem, is the least of your issues with a new 2010 Camry. They used to be the best cars on the road. No more. Ask your dealer about the uncontrolled acceleration problem where the car floors the gas till you crash. And watch how they hee ha around the issue.

Man... that Alan knows nothing about Toyota's.































The problem you are experiencing is cause by a weak battery in your FOB. The FOB is designed to hibernate when not in use. But many people keep them too close to other electronic and thet wake and sends out a ping looking for the car receiver.































Replace the battery and it will be back to normal.
