...turn. can you help? It doesn't appear to be the steering wheel lock. It may be the ignition cylinder or the security chip in the head of the key.

also make sure your gear shifter is not loose or if it is not all the way in park and locked in it will cause this my 2000 dodge was like this i had to adjust the linkage

Go to your steering wheel and turn it a bit. Keep on doing that until it starts. The other thing is to check the gear and see is it on Park or Neutral.

Do both those and lube the lock. Everybody says not to squirt WD-40 in it, but by golly, it works real good.















The "do it properly" types say use graphite dry lube. Got any of that laying around?















Also, is your key original or a copy of a copy? Bring car and title to dealer or locksmith and get new key cut if AB and C produce no results. E is replace lock cylinder, an easy fix, but chip may present problem.















Security chip, if it has one will not cause this. It would cause car to fail to start, but key would turn.

that always used to happen to me...in my 92 camry..with the old key and the new key i got for myself at the dealer....but i just sprayed some WD-40 in the lock just to see what would happen and saw all this black dirt come out....it was kinda cool...but my key never got stuck again....

Basically everyone says to just use some WD40. I have a 1991 Corolla, and the keys are worn down almost completely, very few ridges left. The trunk I've had trouble with. And last week, it wouldn't turn at all. Sprayed some WD40 (or similar) lube spray and it solved the problem. I have to do that about twice a year to keep the trunk lock working.















So don't worry about it, just spray the stuff and you'll be fine.
