Possibly the EGR valve is opening when it should not. You could temporarily disable the vacuum supply to test. Another idea is the cold start injector valve is gummed up. That injector is unfortunately located just downstream of the crankcase gas return, so crankcase fumes solidify on the injector. My cold start injector lasted 130,000 miles before it caked over. The only problem I had with the distributor was at about 230,000 miles when the bearing seal on the distributor bearing cracked and fell off, creating a problem of oil getting into the distributor from the crankcase.
