My Grandads car wont start.?

Default My Grandads car wont start.?
Ok my grandad died, and his car is in my mums possession.































and now it's november, very cold and the car won't start.































it's a "r" reg toyota corolla.































i opened the door, only one lock opened, the interior light did not go one, then i tried to start it, and nothing happened. i think the battery is dead, but it started fine a few weeks ago.































please help me.































OH if you were wondering, i wanted to start it because my mum would worry about it, that it wouldn't start.

The battery has gone flat - this happens if the car doesn't get used frequently. You may be able to recharge it, but batteries aren't too dear. Get a battery and a fresh MOT to give the best price if you are selling.

My condolences on your grandfather. The battery needs to be recharged. If you guys have a battery charger, use it and recharge the battery, or take the battery to a mechanic you know and ask them to recharge it for you. that should take care of the problem. Good luck.

First thing you should do is jump the car off. One lock came up because that battery is so low that it couldn't unlock the rest of them. Also if the car is going to be of no use for a long period of time I would unhook the battery. For now give it a jump and drive it around, I WOULDN'T CUT IT OFF UNTILL I GOT BACK HOME!. Then try to restart it, better for it not to crank at home rather than somewhere broke down.

the battery still could have gone bad in that length of time. also check the battery terminals to see if they are corroded or loose. you and yours has my condolenses on your grand-dad dieing.

Invest in a battery charger. Disconnect the battery (be sure to do this or damage may occur). Charge the battery in situ overnight. If the battery is in reasonable condition the ammeter on the charger will have dropped to almost zero amps. If it doesn't drop, you need a new battery.

charge the battery, but it will probably go flat again, buy a new one or keep on charging
