Most premium oils today are formulated for use in specific cars with specific requirements. For example, VW/Audi require oils that meet specification 505/502. Japanese engines are more forgiving than most regarding oil usage. Even so, the best oil for you WILL state on the label "designed for use in Toyota," or a similar phrase. Mobil One makes an oil that satisfies the requirements for Toyota. Go to a parts store and READ THE LABELS CAREFULLY. AMSOIL makes synthetic oils that DO last for one year OR 25,000 miles. READ THEIR LABELS!!!! THe best synthetic oils on the market only need to be changed once yearly, or if they get very thick or dark. I defy the other writer to show me which engines leave metal particles on the oil. That's what the filter is trying to protect. IT is NOT normal for engines to drop metal particles into the crankcase. If that happens, there is a MAJOR engine problem. Engine bearings that are properly lubricated and protected don't leave doo doo droppings!!!! Unless this engine came from a 1972 Chevrolet Vega, which frequently drops it's innards into the oil crankcase.
