If it is cool or cold outside, then that is the computers way of warming up the engine more quickly. If it were to idle at say 800 rpm, it would take a fair bit longer for it to warm up.































Part of the logic of this, is that having the engine warm up quicker will cause less wear and that getting it to operating temperature sooner also reduces emissions.
