Although there is more usable room in the Prius than in the Camry, the Camry has more luxury features and a larger gas engine (2.4 litre for Camry vs 1.8 litre for Prius). You can also get dual chrome exhausts with the Camry (wow) and several other mpg robbing extras.
Now you might wonder why Toyota would put a larger engine in, and so would I, but it appears that Toyota uses the same marking people that Ford and GM do, so they often end up with the same dumb answers rather than have things the vehicle owners, and purchasers, would actually like to get.
Remember that every automotive reviewer in the US and most of the ones in Europe believe that if you can't jack-rabbit around a truck that's going 80 mph your car is underpowered. Kind of silly, but there you have it.
