actually there's a few safety switches on it, BX 22 that's a Hydrostatic transmission if I'm not mistaken, speed selector in neutral, PTO in off position, and sitting in the seat are your main ones, what he's doing under the seat with a screw driver is beond me, most backyard mechanics just unplug the seat switch and jump the plug at the tractor side thus disabling the safety switch, I'm not allowed to suggest doing so for obvious reasons at work but what I think hes doing is jumping the plug at the switch with the screw driver due to a bad switch, why dont you just unplug it and connect the 2 wires togeather, at least that way you can start it while sitting in the seat, and not having to screw around with a screw driver,
