Default FJ62 Toyota Landcruiser 1988 4x4 light won't turn off?
The 4x4 light on my landcruiser is, for some reason, not turning off. It was used recently (went offroading) but when I was getting back onto the main road, I unlocked the hubs and when I pressed the button to turn it off, the light stayed on. Any idea why this is and how to fix it?































I know for sure that the 4 wheel drive is off. But the darn light just stays on. Help?

It sounds like the vacuum switching valve (VSV) isn't working in the 'off' direction. It's fairly common on 62s. Unfortunately that system was only used on the '62, which was only around for a couple years so replacements can be hard to find.































I would suggest checking the classifieds at www.ih8mud.com for good used replacements. I'm pretty sure I've seen them for under $50.
