Did I pay too much on this 2000 Corolla I just bought at the dealer?

I got a 2000 Toyota Corolla for $3700 total, obviously taxes including and license plate fees etc. The Kelley Blue Book price for private party was between $2800 for fair, to $3700 for excellent. It has 100,000 miles. Suggested retail value for "excellent" was a little over $5000. The car seems to be in good condition and well-kept for. No noises or anything else when driving. I found similar cars on Craigslist in the $2800 price range, but that's before taxes and plate fees, plus you don't know who you're getting it from necessarily. Is my deal ok, or did I overpay?

It s an 00 Toyota, so yr deal is pretty ok, $3700 in total.

I think your research prior to the purchase was "good" but honestly doubt if many people would pay $5,000 simply bec of age and mileage and fact that they're would other comparable used vehicles in a particular price range. Whether buying new or used, I recommend patience and research as well as creating a matrix of choices that reflect all the key factors: like price, mileage, engine conditon, exterior & interior, colors, upgrade options etc and then designating Choices #1, #2 etc that may change as you continue to search for vehicles that meet your criteria. You may not end up buying Choice #1 for some reason like Seller refused to reduce price a little bec of such discrepancy you discovered, but overall as long as you bought Choice #2 or #3...Bottomline you did your homework and it was not a spur of the moment decision.
