Default Questions about 98 toyota tacoma 3.4 DOHC truck....?
I am wanting to buy a 98 toyota tacoma sr5 ext cab 4X4. It has the 3.4 DOHC motor with an automatic transmission. I need to know how good these motors and transmissions are. The truck already has 270,000 miles on it. Selling for about $4500. Is this a good deal???

I have the exact same car except that mine is a '99 and I can tell you that the 5VZ-FE engine is absolutely bulletproof. 270,000 miles is pretty high, but should still be good for at least another 100,000 if you take care of it. Mine has just over 100,000 miles on it and still feels the same as it did 11 years ago. $4500 doesn't sound too bad. Just be sure to get a CARFAX or something to make sure it has a solid history.
