2001 toyota corolla stalling problems?

i have a 2001 toyota corolla and i went to the store and on he way back i was pushing the gas pedal and it was not going anywhere and i eventually had the gas pedal almost to the floor and it just did not go and then it jerk and went a little then it did the same thing, does anyone know what is wrong? please help me.... i am thinking fuel pump

the engine did sound different i dont know how to explain it

oh so it is not the fuel pump, do you know what it might be ? could it be the catalytic converter?

if the engine is reving I doubt its the fuel pump. It might be the tranny since cars from 1990 2 the early 2000s r notorious 4 tranny problems which if its the tranny I recomend just buyin a new car cause itll cost more 2 replace the tranny than 2 buy a new car
