transmission shifting problem in automatic 88 celica gts with ect?
ok so the car will not reverse. in neutral the car will drive forward. in reverse it acts as if it is in park and will not rev past either 2400 or 4200 rpm, i can't remember which one. when you put it in any gear except park with the key in the on position but the car not started it will roll as if in neutral. if the car is on it will drive forward in all gears but reverse which is basically park as stated before. when you drive forward while it is in neutral it will not shift out of first gear. if you drive in "drive" once it shifts into second or any gear past 2nd neutral works but clunks when you engage it, and will rev to redlline. please if you have any educated information on what will cause this problem let me know. please try to have more detail then the transmission is bad or needs to be rebuilt. any and all help is greatly appreciated. thank you in advance. and god bless!
