Toyota is finally ( they have been aware of the gas pedal problem and fatal accidents caused by it for months) agreed to 'fix' the prblem for existing vehicles by attaching a tiny piece of metal to the floor. Some auto experts believe that the problem is electronic, not mechanical. Toyota is installing a redesigned gad pedal to new vehicles in its assembly plants, something they should be doing to all affected vehicles. But that wopuld cost them more money. And that, not the safety of their loyal customers, is apparently their bottom line. Add to that the recent disclosure of serious brake defects in the Prius and other models, and I'd be inclined to park the Toyota for now, or try to trade irt in (with much reduced resale value) for some other make of car.
