what gas type should a Toyota Matrix 2006 use?

Default what gas type should a Toyota Matrix 2006 use?
i was told not to use the cheap stuff, what does everyone else think idk what i sud do when i fill it up















this is what does the internet think is best. and dont have a user manual















ya i have the standard one not xr wish i did haha. buts its a auto

Depends on the model you have. If you have the base model or the XR, 87 is recommended. if you have the XRS, premium is recommended. If you're not sure which model you have, if you have a 6 speed manual transmission, you have the XRS- which is the only model that Toyota recommends premium unleaded fuel on. All others have either a 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission and run on regular.

I reccomment at least 91 octane (premium) at the pump, thats what I use, much smoother acceleration than with regular. Also alot of Toyotas newer than 1998 will knock or ping with regular and assuming nothing is wrong with the car, using premium will remedy that. Technically though, per Toyota you should just be able to use regular.
