How do I fix my gas cap problem for a 2005 Toyota Corolla?

Default How do I fix my gas cap problem for a 2005 Toyota Corolla?
When I tighten the cap it snaps as if it is closed and I do it three times as the writing on the cap says. However, it's not truly closed and the cap still falls off. I got a new gas cap, but the problem remains. Any idea what I need to do or what parts I need to replace?

Pull up hard on the steering wheel and stick the column in the gas opening.

Sounds like the threads are stripped out of the fill pipe. If that is the case you will need a new filler pipe. check your warranty book to see if that is covered under the emission warranty. if the cap won't stay on you cant pass a smog test! check with the dealer - they may replace it for free.
