my toyota solara has 282,000 miles, should i start looking for another car?

Only if your Solara has started to develop severe problems. If it still runs well and isn't breaking down all the time, I'd say just keep it. It's far more economical to keep an old car running than it is to buy a new one.

As long as your car is in good shape keep it going, even pay for repairs.

Put the new car payments in savings

Do NOT buy $2000 worth of wheels, your car may be perfect , but it only worth the average price of your model.

Keep the car as long as you can. As long as it is still running and isn't too expensive to maintain. Don't buy into the hype that you need a new car every few years.

Solaras were the last great car build by toyota. Every model after 2008 has been cheapened. I own a 1999 Toyota Solara. There was probably not a better car built in the country at that time, including Lexus. Solaras are a rare gem if you keep and maintain them. I intend to keep mine till I'm 90. Because there is no Toyota presently made that can even compare to a Solara. --Sadly, amongst the many Toyota mistakes lately, they have chosen to discontinue the only really quality model they ever made in the last 10 years...and replaced it with that cyclops called the Venza which has such loud road noise inside that you need to crank up the radio so you don't go deaf from the road noise...KEEP YOUR SOLARA. Every other Toyota today is junk.
