From my experience as an owner, Toyota parts cost significantly more than parts from other makes, especially the North American brands. So maybe Toyota's trying to become more competitive in service costs, to cut further erosion of customers. In view of the recent recalls, Toyota customers are now taking to scrutinizing their Toyota vehicles and service costs more closely, instead of being blindly loyal, at their own expense and safety.
