Default can i replace th hybrid battery cells of 2003 prius by 38 cells of 2007 prius cells.as
they have the same vol? i got toyota prius 2003 .i want to up grad the hybrid battery.

The NHW11 has 38 prismatic modules not cells. There are 6 cells per module so they are 7.2 volts nominal each and there are 228 cells for a total nominal voltage of 273.6. Yes in theory you can upgrade to the NHW20 modules but they are slightly different so you do have to change them all at the same time and possibly modify your battery casing and the compression end plates that keep the plastic cells from ballooning up during charge.

The other answer you've received is a good technical explanation of the process.































But I'd ask a question back to you first: WHY would you want to do this? You didn't give any indication of a problem with your existing battery. If it's not broken, don't fix it...and if you have less than 100,000 miles on your car, that battery is still under warranty until it's 8 years old.
